Introducing Bookhead!
I attended the New England Independent Bookseller’s Association Fall Show as an exhibitor. It was my first time promoting Bookhead outside of the internet. I wrote up this letter to give to booksellers, as a way to introduce myself. I wanted to reshare it here.
This is my first time promoting my business anywhere outside of the internet. So here goes… I am introducing it to the physical world…………
…………THIS IS BOOKHEAD! I HELP BOOKSTORES SELL ONLINE!
I’m a former bookseller. I learned to code so I could redesign the bookstore’s website. This led me into my current work as a web developer, but I’ve been missing books. Always dreaming, like a book lover does, I thought, I gotta open a bookstore.
Where do I start? I can sell some of my collectibles online. Oh…I guess I need some inventory software and an e-commerce store. Hmm…I don’t love any of the options. Well…I guess I can make that…..
And I built an e-commerce platform. The first version has the core features for an online bookseller to create a custom e-commerce website and sync their inventory to sell on Biblio. It’s similar to something like Shopify or Wix, but tailored to booksellers with useful book inventory tools. It’s a content management system for your online bookstore. An e-commerce platform that is knowledgeable about books.
I’m building more features so the application is a useful e-commerce platform for brick and mortar bookstores. I have a product vision where the software is the brain of your entire online operation. This is informed by my experience as a bookseller, as well as listening to what booksellers say they need in software.
Let me know if you’d be interested in being an early adopter. The early adopters have influence over the priority of features as I improve the app. The tradeoff is that you will likely discover bugs.
That is my pitch for the e-commerce platform, now here is the other part of my business:
I can do consulting work for your bookstore. I can help with you with your website. I can do things like create a custom website, write scripts for repetitive computers tasks that take up a lot of your time, and other computer-y things you don’t want to do.
I can also design your bookstore’s website. I can design marketing emails and print materials (like an annual catalog). I can set up and fine-tune Google Analytics on your existing website, giving you insight into what parts of your e-commerce store perform well at selling books. I can help you understand and improve the outcomes of your email marketing campaigns. Anything with computers that you know is important but don’t have the time to sit down and do, I can help!
So… there we have it… That is my business…
BOOKHEAD. TECHNOLOGY FOR BOOKSTORES. HELPING THE GOOD PEOPLE WHO SELL BOOKS, SELL MORE BOOKS. ESPECIALLY ONLINE.
